The Pros And Cons Of Working From Home

1. Pros

You’re at home!

Clothes are optional!

You don’t have to partake in Casual Friday or buy coffee for anyone else.

Sometimes you can put your head down on your laptop and hum.

Or jump up and down for no reason whatsoever.

You can lie down on your yoga mat and pretend you’re practicing.

You can talk to yourself. A lot.

You don’t have to answer the phone.

When you do go out it’s extra special.

Nobody knows what you really eat. (Oh.*)

You’re allowed to sing. Out loud!

Your laptop is your friend. Sometimes great things happen between you.

You can go to a yoga class whenever you want.

*They do if you overshare on social.

2. Cons

You are basically on your laptop 24 hours a day. You want to break up with your laptop.

The treats situation gets OUT OF HAND!

Sometimes you answer the door with no pants on.

Things can get a bit feral.

You take a LOT of breaks.

You have to secret Santa yourself.

The Christmas party situation is a bit sad.

Sometimes you sigh a lot.

You take more breaks.

Everybody assumes you have time for coffee.

You often quite literally work ALL day and into the night.

Sometimes people query what you actually do all day.* It’s insulting when your head is resting on your laptop.

You can do the washing, take lunch whenever you want and wear a face mask.

*Like I would ask you, accountant or doctor, what you actually do. Rude.

3. In summary

I’ve really lost the thread of this but I would rather eat my weight in chocolate almonds and suffer the consequences, go pantless and work ridiculous hours than get exhausted pretending to work (such hard work!) and despise making someone else’s dream come true (not that helping someone achieve their goal is not worthy. So worthy! Just also a little bit despise-able.).

In further conclusion:

I am unemployable.

You? Work for yourself or a bigwig?
Love to know your pros and cons?
Also, do you wear pants in either situation?
