Dear Jane
1. Dear Jane,
I always like to go for a decent run first thing Christmas morning but this year I’ll be staying with my new in-law’s and they think it’s a strange thing to do.
Do I insist on going or leave it and eat carbs for breakfast which I know will upset my digestion for the rest of the day.
Any suggestions?
Love,
Stace
Dear Stace,
As easy-going as you sound, there are ways around this so that you don’t miss out on your half-marathon (presuming you’ll be taking it a bit easier on a holiday).
Make sure you buy these unhealthy heathens matching running gear and pass it all out the night before with a ho, ho, ho and a see you in the morning bright and early type of cherry goodnight.
They’ll either join you or not but you’ll have put them on the back foot as you’ve made this into a fun family activity. And they sound like a fun bunch.
Fingers crossed that no-one forces carbs upon you though. God forbid.
2. Dear Jane,
How do you handle the end-of-work events and stresses? I find I’m getting a little overwhelmed with all the expected socialising and we’re not even half-way through the month!
Best,
Greg
Dear Greg,
We get it. You’re popular.
Hard to advise you when I’m overwhelmed if I get in the car twice in one day.
3. Dear Jane,
I would love to know what your ideal holiday menu is just in case anyone would want to surprise you with some meals?
Health and happiness always,
M.
Dear M,
What a delightful question and so unexpected!
Off the top of my head I’d have to say the following (vegan) dishes came to mind –
Seeded crackers with dips
Warm bread with beautiful olive oil
Numerous, clever salads piled high with all the vegetables and including/or side plates of salt and pepper tofu, polenta chips, lentil dishes and a few potato surprises
Raw cakes/cheesecakes, in particular lemon, coconut and berry
Pineapple, melons, all the fruit except banana, apple or oranges mixed with other fruit
Dark chocolate anything
Non-dairy nice cream…
But really, I’m easy! And more than happy to fill in the gaps should you need more information.
Hope this was a helpful column this week, lovely people.
And please do get in touch – my email is: jane@theyogaconnection.co.nz
(Need to know where to deliver any food or specific type of olive oil – I’m here for you.)
