Commitment Issues
Robert Browning – The best is yet to be.
It’s a new year and affirmations and resolutions and inspirational quotes are tripping over themselves to be affirming and inspiring and, yeah, you got this! resolute.
I’m hoping you’ve had your fill of them as I don’t actually have anything to add.
I like the idea of brand spanking newness, the air of possibility, and the well, hello there, let’s do this! decisive tone. I mostly enjoy reading and nodding along to lists filled with Good Intentions, and I’ve attempted to inhale the surge of energy generated out there in social media land.
Unfortunately I then fall into a deep pit of despair, overthinking, underestimating and failing to commit to anything worthy. The whole exercise seems fraught with danger.
Where to start? There’s a world out there that needs saving and I sometimes feel my small efforts need to be bigger and bolder. And I’m not being flippant, I’m really not, but I don’t know if you’ve noticed; there’s a LOT of world-saving to be done. As for myself, I’d like to improve on a personal level in oh, so many ways. So many ways.
You get the gist. It can be somewhat overwhelming.
To that end I’ve decided to chug along doing my best (baby steps, baby steps), to keep loving my family and friends hard and embracing my yoga heart as it continues to show me that I’m a better person than I ever knew – and so is everyone else.
And to think it’s only taken until day 19 of 2015 to get on board.
– Jane
Please don’t let my neurotic ramblings put you off sharing your resolutions. I’d love to know what you hope to achieve this year!
