7/50 Ask Me Anything, Then I’m Going To Bed
- Bliss-ish
Everything got cancelled that was planned today. Bliss. I got to a yin yang class. Bliss. It’s gently raining outside and I’m inside, not exactly humping, just VERY close to the oil heater. Bliss.
When the week is full, it’s a gift to suddenly have a day where you don’t have to put on a bra or mascara and you can walk around with layers of zit cream on those conniving little beasties that you are NOT supposed to get at 49 and a half.
Except it means there is no excuse for not getting done what you need to get done in terms of emails/admin/computer/website-y type jobs that are long overdue. It means that this is the perfect opportunity to Get Ahead. I’m not sure with what, since there is an awful lot to Get Ahead with but I bet it would be AMAZING to do so.
I read somewhere that you should think of something that will give you joy apart from the satisfaction of completing a task or tasks. I’m going straight to thinking of bedtime and how gorgeous it’s going to feel to slip into clean sheets tonight. I’m going to try and not think about waking between those sheets at 1am, 3am or 4am. And I am going to get one more snack.
- Podcasts
While I need absolute silence to write (as well as the perfect temp, much food, a hot drink, water, a tidy desk and something to look forward to eating later), for other work I’ve got quite addicted to podcasts. Some yoga, many not.
I’ve listened to science. Ask me anything! I’ve nodded along to portions of crime serials, already having worked out the protagonist’s path of enquiry. Ask me anything! I’ve got The New York Times bookmarked and am quite the fan of Here’s The Thing With Alec Baldwin. He did an awesome interview with Patti Smith (I LOVE her). Ask me anything!
Thing is, I am not a multitasker. Either I’m getting thoroughly involved in the podcast or I’m trying to block it as I’m tapping out enormously helpful info. Or in layman’s terms, trying to articulate what I do to people who I’m doing it for.
Ask me anything!
- The prop-spreader-outer
I’m not pointing the finger here. We’ve all got, or had, our ‘thing’ in the yoga studio. Hello, front right, then left, corner of a Bikram studio for three years. (My genuine, heartfelt apologies to everyone.) But this morning as I walked into an already full class I went to put my mat down between two others and one arm lazily stretched out and pushed her/his (her) props over further so I couldn’t fit. And it’s happened before. I think it’s a real thing!
Using props improperly.
This isn’t the end. Blocks will fly.
Could you recommend any podcasts? I’d love some new ones.
Are you a save-the-space-prop-spreader-outer? You can tell me… no harm will come to you. Ish.
