Dear Jane
1. Dear Jane,
At what age do you think a child should stop believing in the Easter bunny? My life partner and myself firmly believe that our child should be given the truth in all matters. We have recently had to have ‘the talk’ about the tooth fairy which did not go well as our son had high expectations of increasing his investment portfolio.
Santa Claus has never been an issue as we have a Jewish nanny.
Mathias is six and can’t stop talking about this fictional [ridiculous] rabbit character. We’re at our wits’ end. Please help.
Sincerely,
Mother of Mathias
Dear MoM,
Well, as Easter is now drawing to a close I can only hope poor Mathias was at least given a marshmallow egg with some semblance of having come from a bunny. Or at the very least some Bonus Bonds.
As a mother myself, I find sometimes the best way to tackle the hard things is to let others do it for you. Give it a year or so and someone else will destroy the magic for him and you can just focus on ruining the joy of sex.
2. Dear Jane,
How much chocolate is too much chocolate?
Cheers,
R.
Dear R,
Oh please.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. If a tree falls in the forest etc.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH CHOCOLATE!
So it is writ.
3. Dear Jane,
What advice would you give to a novice in the yoga studio who doesn’t like engaging in conversation before class?
I’ve never come across so many smiley people. Is this normal? When I went to the gym nobody spoke to me for seven years and I would prefer to continue this practice of quiet focus in my yoga classes.
Yours sincerely,
Geoffrey
Dear Geoff,
I hear you.
At the same time I feel you might have to make a bit of an effort. Yoga people can’t help it. They are naturally shiny, happy people and like to bestow all their joy upon others. Even when others are less than receptive.
It’s a hard road, Geoff but enlightenment and a decent spiritual chit chat is just around the corner.
As always I hope I’ve brought desperately needed help to those of you in dire straights. Especially you, poor [yet wealthy in stocks] Mathias.
