30/50 Surprises

1. How I feel about surprises

I don’t care for them.

Of course there are good surprises but the best surprises are in my head. And that’s a lot of pressure should anyone want to actually surprise me.

There’s a lot to live up to in my head.

2. Raisins are a terrible surprise

There is nothing good about raisins and I have NEVER with my own hand added raisins to anything. But when these sneaky little devils appear in café bircher muesli or granola or salads (SALADS!) I pick every single one out.

Food issues, anyone?

My mother went through a stage of adding them to most meals when I was a child, which might play some part of it. But she had a thing about peas too (once in rice pudding) and I don’t mind them.

Raisins though, there’s no coming back from a rogue dried up grape.

3. Possibly Best Surprise EVER

I’ve gone into this year with no real plans for my 50th other than excessive gifts from loved ones and anyone else who feels so inclined.

I was not expecting a surprise. A real one!

There’s still (hold on a sec, maths is not my happy place)… 21 days till I turn half of a hundred and this PBSE has come early and is oh, so gratefully received. When I say that, I mean initially looking like a stunned mullet, then jumping up and down and now doing a lot insane smiling.

I’m still pinching myself and can’t wait to share what it is. Because, and this may surprise you, I can get quite excited.

First though, got to let my people know and then, wheeeeeeeeeee!

How do you feel about surprises? Or (gag) raisins?
